TW/ILT Technical Writing

This interactive one-day workshop explains the requirements of Ericsson’s house style. It begins with an overview of writing styles and the basics of good technical writing. It then goes on to explain Ericsson’s corporate style. The CPI manual is divided into six sections: Language, Information Structure, Document Elements in CPI, Rules for Writing, Effective Language, and Writing Conventions. Participants are divided into two teams. At the end of each section, one representative from each team goes head-to-head in a quiz featuring 10 questions on the material that has been discussed. The first to ding their bell gets to answer. Other participants take turns scoring and adjudicating. Once the quiz is over, participants are given a sample text to copy-edit. This is then edited together.

After the workshop, participants are given Sample Text A to copyedit and return with a week for evaluation and feedback. With the evaluation/feedback, they are given a second sample text (Sample Text B) for copyediting. This evaluated feedback reinforces the learning from the workshop. Evaluation reports are sent to the requestor.
